Start where you’re stuck.
1. Read the book.
Keep your copy nearby. A guide is most useful when you can return to the passage and see the evidence for yourself.
2. Work through a chapter.
Use the summary to follow the events, then look at why they matter. Later sections can reveal events ahead of your current chapter; check spoiler notices before continuing.
3. Try the questions first.
Give a question your own answer before opening its explanation. Compare the reasoning, rather than memorizing a response.
4. Make your argument.
Use the essay workshop to develop a claim, select evidence, and explain how it supports your reading. Follow your teacher’s rules for using and citing study resources.
Practice answers are examples, not the only possible interpretations. Written responses are not saved by the guide.
